Infiniti QX65 Debuts with Fastback Design and Gold-Infused Red Paint
The 2027 Infiniti QX65 made its debut in style with a special event at Grand Central Terminal in New York City. This two-row midsize luxury SUV joins the QX60 and the QX80 to complete the brand lineup. It targets active buyers seeking something distinctive in a huge segment.
The model will reach retailers early summer 2026 with prices starting at $53,990, making it the new entry-level model in the Infiniti lineup. It features a sporty fastback profile inspired by the iconic FX along with details that balance bold design and everyday usability. We spoke with Brian Marango, Director of Product Marketing at Infiniti USA, ahead of the big reveal to find out more about Infiniti’s latest vehicle.

Completing the Trifecta
The QX65 fills a key gap in the brand portfolio by delivering a dynamic option that stands apart while maintaining the brand’s signature approach to luxury and performance. “It’s an all-new nameplate for us. It completes our trifecta of SUVs in the lineup and it offers a bold two-row SUV with a lot of sporty influence to complement the QX60 and the QX80,” said Marango.
“One of the reasons we even came out with the car is because of the segment opportunity. It is a very large segment. About half a million units a year. So, I think we are coming into a segment that is ripe for opportunity and we’re offering something that is a little bit different” said Marango. Infiniti sees strong potential here and positioned the QX65 to appeal to drivers who want more than the standard offerings in this competitive space.
“I really love the acceleration and the drive feel. It is a lot of fun to drive.” – Brian Marango, Director of Product Marketing, Infiniti USA
Those stepping up from mainstream vehicles will find the value compelling especially when they look at the premium features and distinctive styling. “The price is good,” said Marango of the sub-$55K starting price. This is entry-level luxury with thoughtful packaging that ensures it serves as a rewarding daily driver without forcing compromises on space or capability.

Standout Curb Appeal
It’s not just features that matter in a luxury vehicle. Style is a key part of the package. “It’s bolder in design with 21-inch wheels on the Autograph. You saw the Sunfire red color,” he said, referencing the color Infiniti chose for the reveal. “It’s a beautiful color and it has gold flake in it.” That gold flake is something you can see, and it makes the QX65 sparkle and shine as light plays off its surface.

“I think it has some curb appeal. It’s maybe a little bit bolder for people that are looking for something a bit different” said Marango. Clinics confirmed the appeal for luxury shoppers who want something different, who want a vehicle that reflects their personality rather than blending into the crowd.

Everyday Versatility
The QX65 isn’t just for the entry level buyer. “There are really two buyer profiles that we’re looking at” said Marango. The QX65 works for mid-thirties buyers stepping up to their first luxury vehicle and mid-fifties empty nesters. There are two very different stages of life, but they share some common needs.
The fastback roofline combined with a wide stance creates an athletic silhouette that still delivers impressive cargo capacity with 35.8 cubic feet behind the second row and 67.7 cubic feet behind the first row. It’s a balance of form and function.
“These are people that are active. And that is why we offer an interior cargo space” said Marango. That means room for kids, backpacks and luggage or up to four golf bags. The QX65 is ready for whatever your day has in store.

A Joy to Drive
The engine matches the sporty looks of the QX65 with 268 horsepower and 286 lb-ft of torque paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission. It was important to deliver real performance, not just an SUV that looked good. “The powertrain engineers got to work on doing just that,” said Marango, and he’s been lucky enough to already spend some time behind the wheel.
“We like to consider ourselves a driver-centric brand and part of that is the way it drives. I am really proud of that. I really enjoyed it.” – Brian Marango, Director of Product Marketing, Infiniti USA
The interior features premium materials including semi-aniline leather and open pore wood accents on higher trims. The Autograph sits at the top of the lineup with quilted leather inspired by a kimono, 12.3-inch displays with Google built-in, and available Klipsch audio systems. From the stitching to the available massaging front seats, the QX65 combines power with luxury to make even the longest drives something to enjoy.

Standing Out in a Crowded Segment
The QX65 brings together bold exterior design, practical interior space, and engaging driving dynamics in one beautiful package. Marango emphasized that the team focused on creating a vehicle with no compromises, so buyers get both the excitement of a sporty SUV and utility for real life.
The all-new 2027 Infiniti QX65 is a confident step forward for the brand. It delivers on the promise of distinctive design, rewarding performance, and luxurious comfort while remaining accessible with its competitive starting price. It’s an SUV for people who want their vehicle to feel personal and exciting rather than ordinary. The QX65 is poised to make its mark in the midsize luxury segment.
