Jeep Is Giving Away 100 Wranglers This Summer, But There’s A Catch

Car companies hand out all kinds of prizes. Gift cards, vacation packages, and concert tickets are all fair game. Jeep looked at those ideas and decided to go in a completely different direction with a promotion that might be the most ridiculous one we’ve seen all year.

The automaker wants to give away 100 new Jeep Wranglers, but not everyone is eligible. If Team USA wins the biggest global soccer tournament of the summer, the first 100 eligible Americans legally named George Washington who registered for the promotion will each drive home in a new 2026 Jeep Wrangler.

The giveaway is part of Jeep’s new “All in on America” campaign, which leans hard into red, white, and blue patriotism with more than a little sense of humor. After all, if you’re going to celebrate Team USA on the global stage, why not involve the country’s first president?

Here’s The Catch

The promotion is open to legal residents of the United States who are at least 18 years old and whose legal first name is George and legal last name is Washington. Registration is open now through the final match of the tournament, and the first 100 verified George Washingtons to sign up will be eligible. If Team USA wins it all, those lucky namesakes will each receive a Wrangler.

It sounds like the kind of thing someone pitches as a joke during a brainstorming session before everyone moves on to more practical ideas. Instead, Jeep actually made it real, which is probably why people are talking about it.

Jeep Is Leaning Into The Absurdity

The campaign stars comedian Iliza Shlesinger, who trades her role as Jeep’s Chief Family Officer for the temporary title of Chief Soccer Officer. In the ad, she delivers a patriotic rallying cry from behind a desk beneath a portrait of George Washington riding in a Jeep Wrangler.

Even Jeep executives seem to understand just how unusual the whole thing is. “As the world turns its eyes to soccer this summer and America competes on the global stage, we’re celebrating it the Jeep way, patriotically, playfully and with a nod to the name that shaped a nation,” said Olivier François, global chief marketing officer for Stellantis. “As America’s most patriotic brand, tying America’s victory to the country’s founding father and original trailblazer gives 100 of our fans another unexpected reason to cheer.”

Shlesinger embraced the chaos just as enthusiastically. “If America wins it all and a bunch of George Washingtons end up driving around in brand-new Jeep Wranglers, that’s the kind of chaotic patriotism I want to be part of,” she said. “The Jeep brand has always represented freedom, adventure and a little bit of rebellion, so giving George Washingtons across America the chance to get a Jeep Wrangler felt perfectly unhinged in the best possible way.”

A Giveaway People Will Actually Remember

Whether Team USA actually wins remains to be seen, and whether enough George Washingtons remember to register is another question entirely. Either way, Jeep has managed to create a promotion that stands out in a sea of forgettable incentives and rebate offers.

Most automaker promotions blend together after a while, but this one has people doing a double take. You don’t need to collect points, buy merchandise, or decode pages of legal jargon. You just have to share a name with one of the most famous figures in American history and hope Team USA brings home the trophy.
