The New California Road-to-Track Rally Anyone Can Drive
The inaugural Trinitē Road Rally is a new road-to-track adventure covering about five hundred miles across Northern California. It starts with an iconic launch under the Golden Gate Bridge and ends with track day at Sonoma Raceway.
Anyone can drive this accessible rally with simple time-speed-distance skills learned through online training and a rookie meet-up. The format focuses on fun, precision control, and connection rather than extreme challenges.
This isn’t about being an expert, nor is it about driving an exclusive collectible car. This is a rally for the rest of us. It’s something anyone can drive and enjoy, and they can even do it in the same car they drive to work every day.
We spoke with the Emily Miller, founder of the Trinitē Road Rally, about this new rally, who it’s for, and why it’s a unique experience for driving enthusiasts. “My first love is off-road, but my love is driving and cars, and driving is sport and adventure,” said Miller. “It is a shared spirit on a different surface,” said Miller.

A Rally Designed for Everyday Drivers
Miller is no stranger to time-speed-distance races, with a background in off-road racing under legendary racer Rod Hall. She has podium finishes in major events like Baja 1000 and Rallye des Gazelles.
Her expertise in endurance competitions makes her uniquely qualified to launch this on-road rally. The event combines her passion for driving cars with adventure and competition on paved roads using everyday vehicles.
“I really wanted to create something that was very egalitarian.” – Emily Miller.
Miller designed the rally to feel accessible to everyone. Participants can choose to compete in any car, from their daily driver to a collectible. Unlike many road rallies, this one doesn’t focus on vintage vehicles or a single brand. It allows for a mix of people united by passion for the road. This approach opens the door for newcomers who might feel intimidated by more exclusive or high-end events.

Shared Spirit, Different Surface
“Time speed distance formulations and calculations are simple,” said Miller. They’re straightforward and easy to learn for rookies and don’t require years of experience. One sit-down session teaches the basics, then teammates practice together to improve their skills. She noted that fun challenges will appear along the route to keep things engaging. Since no one has run this rally before, everyone faces the same fresh learning curve.
“You don’t have to have done a time speed distance rally before to do this.” – Emily Miller
The rally doesn’t focus on speed, but on precision. Drivers will follow roadbooks to hit checkpoints at exact times that don’t require speeding on public roads. The event encourages stepping beyond everyday routines with an inclusive spirit appealing to drivers of all experience levels.

Iconic California Routes
California roads are known for delivering some of the best driving experiences anywhere, making it the perfect setting for the inaugural rally. It all begins with a tech inspection at the Golden Gate Club in the Presidio.
This is followed by an official start from under the Golden Gate Bridge at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. The route will then take participants through winding coastal routes and rolling hills that showcase the state’s natural beauty.
“Step out of your comfort zone.” – Emily Miller
One night features camping in a secret spot on cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There’s also glamping at a beautiful resort along the Russian River. This balance levels the playing field and strengthens camaraderie with overnight stops designed to create memorable moments that go beyond the drive itself.

A Spectacular Track Finish
The rally concludes with a track day at Sonoma Raceway where participants will drive laps under expert instruction. This opens rare track access to everyday drivers who can’t always afford the high costs associated with a day at the track.
The session provides a safe, controlled environment to apply the timing skills practiced on the road. The full journey mixes epic scenic drives, timing tests, and a refined on-track element to deliver a complete package blending adventure with performance. It highlights a love of driving with navigation and adventure in a safe, supportive way.
Miller hopes the rally reminds people of the enduring thrill of driving and exploring. The inaugural Trinitē Road Rally runs May 4th through 7th this year Drivers seeking precision competition and real connection will find this new event a unique opportunity.
